With the OBD connection, the JB4 has access to real time engine data which it uses for tuning, logging and also safety.
If the JB4 detects any engine parameters going wrong, it will revert to a safety map. Maps and firmware are regularly updated and enhanced, which you can download for via either by the optional USB data cable or Bluetooth connector for free.
Maps include and can support hardware for stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 and even methanol injection. For example, if the JB4 detects low meth flow, it will automatically revert to a low boost safety map, preventing any dangerous engine knock. The meth map built into the JB4 makes it all very simple indeed. You simply adjust the "boost additive" in the meth map screen in the app for the level of power you want. BMS have perfected this and we advise keeping to the default settings as they are already so well dialled in for stock turbo applications.

I ask bc I've drove just a little over miles with the jb4 on and the trans is slow to upshift when at WOT. There's about a 2 - 3 second delay before the shift. We would like to introduce users to our latest offering. The unit is called a JB4 which is the name of our most advanced circuit board with CANbus connection vehicle data network. It has been tried and tested over many BMW models and it is time for the evolution to start for the VW market.

As we release new firmware it will be added to post 3 here. Base settings If you need to restore your unit with the settings the JB4 shipped with use the below values. Map selection: In order to change the map in the picture below under the logging tab you can pick the required map.
Under status the unit must show connected. This is done by clicking file and selecting connect. Map 0: This is a stock map with JB4 logging ability. It is also the starter map for cars that are running flash tunes and are stacking the JB4. Map 1: Tuned map with a average of 4. Map 2: Tuned map with 5. E30 with bolt ons needed. The map comes preset with a 5. The preset map is also suitable for manual cars with clutch longevity in mind.
