R07 Statistical Concepts and Market Return. R Probability Concepts.Mark Meldrum, Ph. Meldrum has taught at several higher education institutions in both Canada and the U. Meldrum has been trained in pedagogy and assessment, skills not taught in the CFA Program but are critical to have in a Professor. Meldrum teaches the content at each Level the same way he would teach it in a University course. Meldrum, unlike many academically untrained instructors, does not simply tell you what he knows.
He tells you HOW to know what he knows. He does not simply repeat the content from PowerPoints, he explains why something is the way it is.
He does not just prepare you for an exam, he prepares you to be successful in your career. Professor office hours offer a critical point of contact between students and the professor in any higher education course. These open drop-in times allow students to ask questions and get deeper explanations than would otherwise be efficient in a lecture setting.
Meldrum extends the benefit of office hours to his online CFA candidate subscribers. Office Hours are held on a regular posted schedule throughout the exam season through a live Vimeo feed in which candidates can interact directly with Dr. Specific readings are associated with each office hours session at each level. Running from early September to late April, Dr.
During these sessions, any question related to the readings for that session can be asked. Various times are offered per session to cater to a global audience. Space in the Office Hours premium add-on is limited due to the live interaction required. Additional or extended hours may be added depending on demand. After each exam, active access to your subscribed content for the exam year ends. At this time, we move select content into an archive for you.
The video for each reading will be archived. So, if your subscribed Level had 48 readings for example, you will have 48 videos archived, one for each reading. These are basically the same videos that we offered download access to during the regular subscription period.
Level II and Level III both contain call-backs to previous topics on top of content that you are just expected to know. Having the ability to go back and review a particular reading or an LOS within a reading, all in one place, makes the job of getting through the Program much more convenient.

I've been going through the topic weight ranges provided by the CFA Institute for the Level II exam and working out how many item sets they would equate to, counting both morning and afternoon sessions.
I would have thought there should be at least 4 item sets for Equity, given that this same mock exam has 4 item sets for FRA. What do you think? Maybe there are questions relating to Equity, but coming in an item set for a different topic e.
Level 2 Overview
Alt Investments? I haven't actually looked at the exam questions, I'm saving that for when I'm ready to take the test! Tagged: topics. April edited April Hi shantala - welcome to the forum! Another point of reference is the exam results breakdown, i.
As the item sets allow more in-depth questions compared to Level 1, you're right in suspecting that item sets mix several topics into one question, combining concepts learned across the curriculum. It's not a simple task of saying 'topic X will have Y question sets' for some topics, although for others Ethics, for example you normally can rely on for a set number of item sets to appear in the exam. Hope that helps.
April Thanks christinethat was quite informative. I didn't know until this minute that each question gets 3 points! I remember reading it somewhere that it's usually quite down to per reading basis for each item set?So next up is Level II. Here, we compiled those questions and answers into one simple place for Level II candidates to get the information they need. Level I tests your understanding of the basics of investment valuation.
Level II begins to test your ability to put that understanding to practical use. You will be presented with real life scenarios and be asked to put your knowledge of investment management and portfolio concepts to the test.
However, instead of multiple-choice questions, the Level II exam has These questions are divided into 20 item sets, consisting of 6 questions each. You will be tested on 10 of the item sets in the morning, and 10 in the afternoon. For each item set, you will be provided information, and the 6 questions will require you to use the provided information to solve them. The general consensus is that you should dedicate a minimum of hours to studying for Level II.
Typically, candidates will spread that time over a 6-month period, which averages out to about However, some candidates do not begin studying as early and compress their study time into a shorter window.
How intense your study schedule is depends greatly on how early you begin preparing. They all require focused study and preparation. CFA exam grading is done by machines and charterholders.
CFA Institute then uses a methodology to determine a minimum passing score that is applied to each exam. Our article on how the CFA exam is graded has all the details.
Preparation is critical to reaching the finish line. The cost to sit for the exam varies depending on when you register. CFA Institute has three registration windows for each exam offering: early, standard, and late. We suggest registering by the end of the standard registration period for two reasons. Second, the earlier you commit to sitting for the exam, the sooner you can begin preparing.

I would recommend every newbie to start with few readings with his method before investing to much money on a more comprehensive one.

See how our partners can help you ace your CFA exams. I already started with the curriculum combine with Mark Meldrum's video. I did not see any article on this website about his videos and I was wondering what you think about them?

Do you think the curriculum and the video is a good strategy? I am also interested to go to a proper class and Kaplan Schweser propose some in Edinburgh. I am wondering if anybody took these class? What is your opinion of them?
Thanks for your kind help, Nicolas. April Hi unacsed - none of our team has personally used Mark Meldrum, but readers have written in about Mark Meldrum.
He does seem very well reviewed. Having said that, I'm not sure if just the combination of his videos and the curriculum would be something we'd recommend.
I'd say if that's your strategy, start with that, but monitor your progress carefully. If you're not progressing as fast as you'd like, it's best to change strategy early so that you have time to adapt. Clark90 New York Posts: 7 Associate. July
